Abstract
We are very happy and honored that the inaugural issue of Studies in Literature and Culture, is launched. SLIC is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the scholarly exploration of literary texts and their intricate entanglements with cultural phenomena. In an era marked by accelerating globalization, digital transformation, and socio-political upheaval, the interplay between literature and culture demands renewed scholarly attention. This journal emerges as a vital platform for interrogating how narratives shape, reflect, and challenge the cultural fabrics of our world. It also intends to investigate how culture affects, problamatise, leads, reads, and follows literature.
The aims of Literature and Culture are threefold. First, we seek to foster innovative research that bridges literary studies with cultural theory, encompassing various disciplines and critical approaches such as postcolonialism, poststructuralism, posthumanism, ecocriticism, gender studies, and media studies. Second, we prioritize interdisciplinary approaches, encouraging contributions that draw, among others, history, on philosophy, psychoanalysis, and the digital humanities to illuminate the dynamic relationships between texts and their socio-cultural contexts. Third, we aim to represent diverse voices, including those from underrepresented regions and traditions, thereby enriching global dialogues on literature's cultural resonances. Of course, we welcome and encourage scholarly articles on literatures of different languages.
Our scope is deliberately expansive yet focused. We welcome original articles, review essays, and critical interventions on topics including—but not limited to—the cultural politics of canon formation; literature's role in identity construction and resistance; adaptations across media and borders; and the ethical dimensions of cultural representation in literary works. Manuscripts should demonstrate methodological sophistication, theoretical acuity, and a commitment to advancing knowledge in the field. We adhere to double-blind peer review to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity.
We invite scholars, critics, and cultural practitioners worldwide to contribute to this endeavor. Literature and Culture: from Theory to Practice aspires not merely to document scholarly discourse but to propel it forward, cultivating a space where literature illuminates the complexities of human experience. We look forward to the rich exchanges that will define our pages.
